Spontaneous Heparin-Induced Thrombocytopenia Presenting as Concomitant Bilateral Cerebrovascular Infarction and Acute Coronary Syndrome

چکیده
Background: Spontaneous heparin-induced thrombocytopenia is a pro-thrombotic syndrome in which anti-heparin antibodies develop without heparin exposure. Case presentation: A 78-year-old man who underwent successful lumbar laminectomy presented to the hospital 5 days after discharge for stroke-like symptoms and was found have acute infarcts of bilateral frontal lobes. The patient be severely thrombocytopenic incidentally an inferior wall myocardial infarction. Further investigation led diagnosis lower extremity deep vein thromboses. His overall clinical presentation prompted detailed hematologic workup that indicated positivity despite no previous exposure products. Conclusions: This case illustrates with prior lifetime subsequent development lobes, infarction, thromboses, concern sequelae spontaneous thrombocytopenia.

Spontaneous heparin-induced thrombocytopenia presenting as bilateral adrenal hemorrhages and pulmonary embolism after total knee arthroplasty
Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia syndrome is an acquired potentially life-threatening prothrombotic disorder caused by antibodies that recognize complexes of platelet factor 4 bound to heparin or heparin-like molecules. It typically occurs after exposure to unfractionated heparin, to a lesser extent after exposure to low-molecular-weight heparins, and rarely after exposure to fondaparinux. Here...
متن کاملHeparin induced thrombocytopenia
Abstract Background and Objectives Heparin is still a commonly used anticoagulant in prophylaxis and treatment of thromboembolic events. Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) is a life-threating adverse drug reaction of heparin. The diagnosis of HIT is made based on two important criteria, firstly clinical evaluation and secondly laboratory testing. In this comprehensive review, the authors w...
متن کاملMarfan's syndrome presenting as bilateral spontaneous pneumothorax.
A case of bilateral spontaneous pneumothorax in a 14-year-old girl with previously undiagnosed Marfan's syndrome is described. The pulmonary abnormalities of Marfan's syndrome are not commonly encountered and bilateral pneumothorax is itself a rare event which, in most instances, has been reported following invasive procedures.
متن کاملA Rare Case of Acute Myocardial Infarction due to Coronary Artery Dissection and Heparin-Induced Thrombocytopenia
Although both coronary artery dissection and heparin-induced thrombocytopenia may provoke myocardial infarction, it is extremely rare for both conditions to develop simultaneously in a single patient. We report a case of a 69-year-old woman who sustained a head-on motor vehicle accident with associated chest trauma. During a subsequent hospitalization, she was exposed to subcutaneous heparin an...
متن کاملHeparin-Induced Thrombocytopenia (HIT) Syndrome
Heparin has been available as a clinical treatment and prevention for thromboembolic disease for half a century. Known complications of heparin therapy include bleeding, allergic reactions, osteoporosis, and thrombocytopenia. Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) is a common and potentially grave adverse effect of heparin treatment. HIT is unusual among drug-induced thrombocytopenias in that i...
